Our Construction System

In Turkey, the prefabrication was initiated in the 1960s. It is preferred especially in industrial buildings due to the reasons such as easy installation and manufacturing in a short time. However, the severe damages that occurred in prefabricated buildings in the recent devastating earthquakes required the development of new joint details for such building systems. Behaviour of buildings under the influence of seismic loads is affected by strength, stability and load-distributing features of joint details. When the causes for damage and destruction of the prefabricated buildings were investigated after the earthquake, it was found out that the majority of these buildings demonstrated poor performance due to insufficient lateral stiffness, cutting capacity and diaphragm movement, quality-control failure and incorrect details in the connection areas. For determination of seismic safety of the prefabricated building system, it should be experimentally and theoretically indicated that the joint zones have ductility and strength similar to the monolithic structural behaviour under the reversible-cyclic load that may occur during an earthquake. For this purpose, EMEK PREFABRIK implements FIX CAST – Industrial and FIX CAST – Residential building technique, which provides seismic safety with high production technology for industrial and residential buildings as a collaborative work of Emek Prefabrik project unit and academicians at universities by using its experience of producing safe buildings, which has been gained over the years and considering the experimental and theoretical data obtained within the scope of the EU-FR7:SAFECAST project as a joint work of Turkey Precast Concrete Association, of which the company is a member, and ITU university.

FIX CAST – Industrial

Developed by Emek Prefabrik for industrial buildings, the FIXCAST Industrial is a new-generation prefabricated reinforced concrete construction technology providing a high level of seismic safety on the basis of sustainable building efficiency. FIXCAST Industrial is a safe construction technology that Emek Prefabrik project Unit and academicians have designed and implemented together by using the joint details, proposed by the SAFECAST Project (PERFORMANCE OF INNOVATIVE MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS IN PRECAST BUILDING STRUCTURES UNDER SEISMIC CONDITIONS), for the industrial buildings to be manufactured in high seismic risk zones. The figures show column-beam joint details of the FIXCAST Industrial. The sub-connections of the joint are welded whereas the upper part comprises wet joint.

FIX CAST – Residential

Developed by Emek Prefabrik for residential buildings, the FIXCAST Industrial is a new-generation prefabricated reinforced concrete construction technology providing a high level of seismic safety on the basis of sustainable building efficiency. FIXCAST Residential is a safe construction technology that Emek Prefabrik Project Unit and academicians have designed and implemented together by using the joint details, proposed by the SAFECAST Project (PERFORMANCE OF INNOVATIVE MECHANICAL CONNECTIONS IN PRECAST BUILDING STRUCTURES UNDER SEISMIC CONDITIONS), for the industrial buildings to be manufactured in high seismic risk zones. The figures show column-beam connection details of the FIXCAST Residential. The joint totally comprises wet joint.
